About
I’m a pop culture enthusiast, storyteller and sometimes musician. Career-wise, my skills are based in writing and design with a flair for editing, proofreading and forming cohesive communication on various marketing platforms.
And You May Ask Yourself, “Well, How Did I Get Here?”
In Western Pennsylvania, born and raised; my parents' basement is where I spent most of my days...
Mainly because that's where the family's record player, piano, computer, and Nintendo systems were kept. That’s also where I let my imagination run wild and came up with early creative ideas such as a spin-off of the show MacGyver, starring myself as MacGyver’s long lost daughter, as well as a sequel to the 1991 cinematic hit King Ralph, also starring myself as a princess.
When the time came for me to leave my wood panel sanctuary, I chose to go to New York City in search of creative inspiration, and attended Pace University (English/Literature) as well as the Media Studies graduate program at The New School.
My first paid writing gig was for my college newspaper as an Arts & Entertainment reporter, I attended screenings, interviewed celebrities, (best: Sam Elliott/Kevin Bacon; worst: Mel Gibson) and tended to give most of my reviewed films a B+. My graduate studies allowed my to dive deep into media and film, focusing on how people perceive and process this communication. The medium really is the message, people. Thanks, Marshall!
Later, after a chance meeting with most of the cast and writers of SNL, I took Amy Poehler's wee-hours-of-the-morning advice and moved out to California in search of opportunities in television and film production. Big mistake. I worked at a studio for about a year before the writer's strike of 07-08 happened and everyone lost their jobs. Thanks, Amy!
It was then that I decided that I was going to be more adaptable and versatile within my career, and started sharpening my skills via social media management, journalism, layout design, technical writing, marketing copywriting, proofing, and editing. I can also do your taxes. A girl's gotta eat, you know?
But I'm not only focused on words. I'm currently a Creative Director in the marketing field, but I want to create projects that resonate with people through music, film, photography, and all forms of art.
Also, let me know if you need a sick bass line for your next song, because I have an electric and I can jam.
